Recording Capabilities Included In The Xbox 720?

06 Jan 2012 | GamerTech Newz

More Xbox 720 rumours have come to light with sources suggesting the next Xbox could feature some sort of DVR capabilities, allowing users to record the video on their console.

This feature would be welcomed by those who record their gameplay, with users able to record while playing or when the Xbox console is turned off.

Microsoft has listed Games, Music, DVD’s and even TV as some of the possibilities that the DVR could be used to record. It is also believed that users will be able to switch between the type of media they are viewing, whilst the console is recording.

Although such rumours seem far-fetched, they could suggest that Microsoft is proposing to enter the TV on-demand market.

PS3 Version Of Battlefield 3 To Get Weapon Fix

23 Dec | GamerTech Newz

A weapon fix is coming to the PS3 version of Battlefield 3, DICE has revealed. The patch will fix two weapons that haven’t been working properly.

The ‘Back to Karkand’ map pack is now available to users across all platforms and allows players  to revisit some of their favorite maps from Battlefield 2. As a result of the map pack release, DICE has identified two weapons that have been causing problems for players on the PS3, these  weapons are the QBU-88 Sniper Rifle and the MG36 LMG.

Although Battlefield 3 has not reached the top three played games on Xbox LIVE, the game is  still making its way onto consoles and PC’s, especially at this time of the year. DICE are continually working to create an outstanding immersive experience for players, to make the  game as enjoyable as possible. Although a date has not been set for the weapon fix, PS3 users  should expect the patch to be coming relatively soon.

Another fix that DICE are continually working on is the voice chat problems that PS3 users have  been experiencing. Although this is a larger scale problem, DICE are regularly releasing patches for the game and a fix should be arriving in the not too distant future.

Microsoft Working To Fix Xbox Live Profile Error

22 Dec 2011 | GamerTech Newz

Since last week a lot of players on XBox Live have not been able to login because of a profile  error which has just been found by Microsoft. The error shows ‘Error 801540B7′ and stops players  from accessing their online profiles and purchased content.

It is believed that this error may be a result of the dashboard overhaul that was implemented  earlier this month but no-one is entirely sure. Microsoft have told Joystiq that they are aware  of the problem and are currently working to fix it. Microsoft’s statement to Joystiq read:

“We have recently identified an Xbox Live profile data error that results in Error Code ’801540B7′  for a small number of Xbox Live members. The error instructs users to attempt to re-download their  Xbox Live profile and directs them to customer service support for further assistance. We apologize  for the inconvenience this has caused to our loyal Xbox Live members and are working to resolve the  issue as soon as possible.

New Modern Warfare 3 DLC To Arrive in January, 2012

21 Dec 2011 | GamerTech Newz

Infinity Ward has revealed that the first DLC content for Modern Warfare 3 arrive on January 24, 2012.

Call of Duty Elite members on Xbox Live will receive the DLC first, with PS3 and PC members having to wait an extra month due to the Xbox 360 exclusivity deal with Activision. Robert Bowling, creative strategist at Infinty Ward, has previously said that the DLC content available in Modern Warfare 3 will be more varied than previous Call of Duty’s. Bowling also confirmed that Infinity Ward, Raven and Slegehammer Games are all working on updates for MW3.

“The way we’re doing downloadable content this year is unlike we’ve never done before,” he said. “Not only in how you can get it – in content drops or choose for the collection – but also the type of content you’re getting. We’re doing more than just maps. We’re going to do Spec Ops missions and a variety of things that players have never seen before.

“That’s the great thing about having three developers that are contributing to the season of content. You have Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer and Raven all pitching in. The full season of content for Modern Warfare 3 kicks off for Elite subscribers on January 24 on Xbox Live.”
